Conference Overview
We are pleased to announce that the 2nd annual joint DCB/DVM Southwest regional SICB meeting will take place on October 26, 2013 at the University of California, Riverside.
We invite presentations, in the form of 5 min. talks and posters, in areas relating to vertebrate morphology and comparative biomechanics. Powerpoint/keynote accompaniments to presentations are not required. Undergraduate and graduate students are particularly encouraged to attend and/or contribute oral presentations relating to proposed, preliminary, or completed projects as this is an excellent opportunity to receive feedback and share new ideas. To that end, attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite student presentation during the dinner and an award will be presented to the winner at the end of dinner. Talks will be limited to Saturday, but hiking and other activities may take place on Sunday, for those interested.
We are particularly excited to announce that Dr. Theodore Garland will be delivering this year's plenary lecture entitled "Selection experiments as an approach to study the evolution of vertebrate locomotion".
The registration deadline is October 17, 2013 at 5:00pm PDT and the registration fee ($31) will include all meals on Saturday. We are also making custom meeting t-shirts that will be available for order shortly (approximate cost: $13). More information about fees and t-shirts can be found on the "Registration" page.
Riverside and the surrounding area offer many good restaurants and fun-filled activities for the entire family. For more information on local restaurants and activities, please see the "More Info" section of the website.
