We invite presentations, in the form of 5 min. talks, in any area relating to Herpetology. Presentations need not focus on herps of the Southwest. Undergraduate and graduate students are particularly encouraged to attend and/or contribute oral presentations relating to proposed, preliminary, or completed projects as this is an excellent opportunity to receive feedback and share new ideas. To that end, attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite student presentation and an award will be presented to the winner at the end of the conference.
We are particularly excited to announce that Dr. Lee Grismer will be delivering this year's plenary lecture
All talks should last 5 minutes, providing time to transition between talks. There will be a question period AFTER the 5-minutes, so you do NOT need to build that time into your 5 minutes. We suggest limiting the talks to 5-6 slides as we want to discourage people from trying to fit a longer talk into a short period of time. Regardless of the format, keep in mind that key ideas (or questions) should be presented, and this can be very preliminary. This is a great opportunity to receive feedback on your project, including results that are somewhat puzzling!
You are free to use your own computer, but you can also use one of the computers that we will have set up. Presentations should be loaded onto the computer during registration. We will have a couple of people stationed in there between 8am and 9am to help upload talks onto one of our machines or to help hook up personal laptops. The room is equipped with a microphone (wireless), but we encourage you to bring a pointer and anything else that you might need.
